I agree with all of your points. Though what exactly didn't you like about Ozymandias?

I can't really pin-point it was about Ozymandias that bothered me. It was the way he looked, like they were going for the cheesy from the comic, but just couldn't commit, but still thought that shiny purple would look good on screen. The way he talked, which kept throwing me out of the movie. The way they made him seriously suspicious from the beginning. It was a lot of things, but a general aura of discontent.

This page makes me want to see the movie; I hadn't heard much about it and I'm not familiar with the comic.

Well, sadly, the awesome that is Rorschach attacking from the fridge is not included in the movie. I definitely recommend both the movie and the comic, though. The movie is an experience, and the comic is great.

Ahahah, you're right, I love that scene, because it illustrates how deeply batshit awesome Rorschach is. Also, it's the greatest "PWNED!" image I can think of.

There are lots of awesome/hilarious/crazy/disturbing things in Watchmen, but I swear, the fridge attack will always be my favorite.

I asked my friend what she thought of the movie, and all she said was "they have no problems with giant blue penis." I don't know...

You know, now I'm trying to remember if there was a "giant" blue penis. I remember regular-size blue penis, but I must have been paying attention to other things when the giant one came on screen.

I think it was because he was a giant? I have no idea what the movie is about, so I really don't know.

Yeah, Dr. Manhattan is of various sizes. I just don't remember if he went full frontal while a giant. You'd think that would be something I'd remember.

One would assume... But then again, maybe you blocked it from your mind (or maybe you're just the kinda gal that has seen so many giant blue penises (penii?) that it just becomes unremarkable when you see it on a screen...).

Well, I've seen it now, and there is a possibility that she means that he is well endowed?

Could be. I guess people just need to be more specific when commenting on giant blue penises.

You know, it really is! Truly, much can be improved by a small, angry man hiding in your fridge, ready to strike as soon as you reach for your string cheese. Also, Rorschach is awesome at all times.

I agree- Ozymandias was the weakest part of the movie, I think, though I have trouble putting my finger on it. He just seemed kind of watered down. And I didn't feel like Dan and Laurie really had all that much chemistry.

Overall, though, I loved it.

I'm pretty much the same way. I thought it was great, but there were more moments that I didn't love than I had hoped. And most of them were between Dan and Laurie or about Ozymandias.

I got this feeling about Ozymandias every time he was on screen like Matthew Goode was thinking "My narrow face and purple jacket are coming for you, even if you're not supposed to think I'm the bad guy yet."

I've never really heard of Watchmen before this whole film thing. I'm gonna be going to see the film with my other half tomorrow because he fancies seeing something new but I suspect from what I've been hearing it's probably a good idea that I haven't read the graphic novel.

Though why the hell would you pass up someone being ambushed by a fridge guy I don't know!

You might actually be at a disadvantage, not reading the graphic novel, at least in regards to seeing everything that goes into the plot. It took reading several reviews for me to get this, but I was making logical leaps about the plot because I already knew everything that was happening. It was disappointing to people who hadn't read it before.

People leaping out of fridges makes everything better.

Ah damn. Oh well I won't get a copy to flick through in the next few hours. Will just have to try and figure out what's happening myself. This will be interesting. lol

Aww, nobody liked ol' Ozy. I kinda did. He was rather too young, but I sorta liked his creepy blonde vibe thing. But maybe I just like Matthew Goode. IDK.

Has Matthew Goode been in something else well known enough that I might have seen him before? I hadn't had any experience with his abilities before, and it could just be he rubbed me the wrong way in this role.

He's in Imagine Me and You and Match Point (which sucks, but he's all right in it) and Brideshead Revisted, which is all right...give him a try. ;)

The first thing I heard in Tuesday's class was a classmate asking me if I had seen this movie. This lead to a discussion about movies in general, and we learned that we share a love for films that aren't great, but they tried so hard we love them anyway.

Thanks to him and yourself, I'm going to go see this movie. I hope the good parts are great, and the bad parts are the sort of over the top moments that I tend to love guiltily.

Well, it does try really hard, so it does have that going for it. There's so much in there, you have to believe someone cared a lot about what they were doing.

Good luck! I hope it is the correct type of over the top bad!

I think Patrick Wilson is best when singing. Especially when singing Rodgers and Hammerstein or the like. Otherwise, excepting The Alamo, I've not been terribly impressed by his staright roles. But he can sing to me all day...

A long winded answer...

Well, he was in the revival of Oklahoma for a while. He was also in Lucky In The Rain, The Full Monty, and then he's on the recent Allegro Complete Recording. He was also Raoul in POTO (movie). But the song in which he stole my heart was Artificial Flowers from the 2000 revival of Tenderloin. (Which is not R&H, but that style of music seems to suit him best.)

Wait, he was Raoul? Wow, then I have seen him. Well, he certainly has range, even if he couldn't muster any chemistry with Malin Akerman.
