This is my first presidential election (that I am old enough to vote in), and I certainly made sure I did it right. I supported and followed Obama through the primaries, I want out and canvassed for the campaign (though in SWeVA I didn't get too far), and I even attended Obama's finaly rally on Monday night in Manassas. Instead of absentee voting (I kinda screwed up my paperwork) I drove home (4 hours) to vote at my polling place--to punch the button for Obama. And then, he won. It couldn't have been more perfect. Except that it was, bc he gave such a wonderful acceptance speech.:)
Anywho, I'm rambling, but I completely and 100% agree with your sentiments. Way to go America. I have never been prouder to be a Virginian and I have never been prouder to be an American.
You certainly did do it right! That's a story you could tell in Civics class to show the importance of voting. I bet it was amazing Monday night. So jealous.
It was awesome. I think there were an estimated 60,000+ there, but here are figures that say like 100,000+ too. I couldn't see him really, bc we were too far away from the stage and they had these football lights on that blinded the crap out of you. But I could hear him and his speech was just as inspiring as ever. And the crowd was just electric. He showed up an hour and 15 minutes late, and it took us like an hour and a half to get out of there, AND the band they had playing was TERRIBLE (they sounded like they had just stepped off of the Deiliah show and were totally NOT upbeat enough for the occasion--imagine a saxophone solo of "I Will Always Love You") but it was totally worth it. And then he won! Yay!
That's amazing. I guess you really don't go to an event like that to see the person, but to feel the crowd and know you're part of something important.
Also I wanted to call you up today and sing you A Patrick Swayze Christmas but I forgot it wasn't Xmas yet so Imma sit on that one until the appropriate time. XD
Yes, but all the Bushisms will be collected together, like all the Dan Quayle sayings ("My fellow astronauts..."). And you will have them all together, without any of the shame of having them said on live TV before the whole world.
Oh, man. I wish my weekend wasn't almost over, because I think I would have spent all day Sunday just watching these videos. At least I know what I'll be doing next weekend!
Oh yeah? Well at least I'm not wasting all my time building some...CUBIC TRIANGLE!!!
Ah, the nineties. When people could wear denim jackets with denim pants, and a good surfer haircut was all you needed to be a child actor.
FYI: Don't watch this show again unless you're prepared to want to harm children. By the third episode with Medea in it, I wanted to not only kill her, but go back in time and kill her over and over again. Seriously, was this kid angling to get future work as the horrible conniving bitch on any given soap opera? Seems like she was just pigeonholing herself on purpose.

I've heard it before, and I'm curious.

*snicker* Speaking of which... (http://teagueful.livejournal.com/43057.html?thread=16298545#t16298545)

More importantly, what kind of dog will the First Puppy be?!?!

Date: 2008-11-11 09:07 pm (UTC)Really happy right now, except I'll miss all the Bushisms. "It's clearly a budget. It's got a lot of numbers in it" was classic. :D
What do you mean, commenting late? :P

2. Medea being spied on in the bath and apparently LIKING IT.
3. Thought-police kidnapping kids and forcing them to produce Brad-propaganda in an Orwellian factory.
Srsly. WTF.
