evadne_noel: A man and the cresent moon in a rowboat (Bizenghast by M. Alice Legrow)
[personal profile] evadne_noel
From [livejournal.com profile] irvys_sefie because it’s just too much fun.

1. Go to the Elouai doll maker (http://elouai.com/).
2. Make an ordinary doll of yourself and save it.
3. Take that doll and, leaving a couple things (nose, eyebrows, whatever) the same, Mary Sue yourself. Make the most blatant Mary Sue you can conceive.
4. Post "Before" and "After" in your LJ. Bonus points if your Sue has a backstory of some sort.

After:

This is Evadne Noel*. Her parents fought valiantly against the Death Eaters following Lord Voldemort’s premature blowup-age. They were not members of the Order of the Phoenix, but of a super-secret international wizarding organization that even Dumbledore knew nothing about. In a tragic showdown, Evadne’s parents were vaporized before her very eyes. Even though she was only two, her amazing memory has enabled her to recall every detail of their deaths, leaving her full of rage and guilt about the whole world**.

Following her parents demise, Evadne was shipped off to Alaska to live with her well meaning, but intellectually deficient relatives. It was here, through many evenings spent watching trout jump into bears’ mouths, she discovered her amazing ability to talk to underwater creatures***. She also started dressing in a way that expressed the deep seeded rage she felt, especially her fishnet stockings****.

On her fifteenth birthday, she mysterious received an engraved box containing a letter from her parents asking her to continue the legacy of the aforementioned super-secret wizarding organization. Realizing that she is pretty much on her own in this endeavor, she grudgingly traveled to Hogwarts to seek help from Dumbledore*****. She then turns to Harry Potter, who is just about to set off on his journey to destroy the Horcruxes. She angrily demands to be allowed to go along, as her mysterious letter also contains a reference to her parents stealing “something important to the Dark Lord’s immortality”, but being unable to do anything with it. She is turned away until she proves herself by extracting vital information from the Giant Squid.

She disdains all personal contact with Harry, whom she has no interest in whatsoever, as she will mention loudly and often. She is frequently bitchy to Ron and Hermione, who for some godawful reason try to get her to open up about her true feelings. She will likely learn the true meaning of love before taking a bullet****** for the Trio. Someone will probably name a child after her in an epilogue*******.

*Hey, I already have a pretty good Mary Sue name. Why waste it?
**Like Batman, or something.
***Which is really more interesting than it sounds, Aquaman aside.
****Because nothing says, “I CUT YOU!” like decorative legwear.
*****Too bad he is of the dead.
******Not literal.
*******Damn, that’s a lot of asterisks.

Wow, this is humorous. I'm glad that you are able to make fun of the Mary Sue's, some people think they're very original and get defensive about them. Yeah, and the website will bring hours of amusement!

I can make fun of (just about) anything. I'm just built that way.

That website is addicting.

Oh, my goodness, it is.

No, don't ask me why I'm still awake at 2:27 a.m. You already know.

Ah, that's fun. I actually made two Sues. One uber-ebil one, and one super-speshul Sparklypoo Sue.

See, I wondered which type of Sue I should go for. The super-speshul type have their merits, and it would have been really easy with that site.

That site was built for Mary Sues. Even the more normal ones look Sue-ish.

Totally. I was trying to dress my non-Sue, and I was like, "Are there any skirts that go below the knee and any tops that don't bare my entire torso? And aren't garish shades of pink?"

I actually slightly frankendolled my non-Sue me so my torso wasn't bare.

xD Dude, before now I think most people were making thier sues for Yuugiou. xD Yay for breaking the trend. But really, that doll maker is far too fun.

I noticed that too. But since my knowledge of Yuugiou can be summed up in the word "nothing," I had no choice to go with the only fandom I knew.

Somehow, Kaiba from that series reminds me very much of Fanon Malfoy. I mean, leather pants, angsty past, abusive!daddy issues. Aside from the fact both characters are practically flooding in money...o_o I need a life.

wow, what a waste of time lol

I just spent an hour and a half trying to make a doll of me and of my "Mary-Sue" side. It turned out good though, so if you want to check it out it should be my first entry. Those dolls made it really hard to find one that look like me, there was like a hundred pictures of stuff I would never wear and hair I don't have lol. It killed time though and I was bored. Enjoy!

~Ashley

I loved your story btw and all the asterisks, they are really a lot of fun.

That site is worth several days of entertainment (though not all at once). There are so many options. Plus, you can design guys too (which is very difficult for me not to design completely embarassing things, but, hey, most of the girls' stuff shows up for the guys too).

Glad you liked the story too! I enjoyed writing it*.

*Asterisks are your friend.

Hey there. I read your journal all the time and I just had to try this out for myself. So I did. There was much rejoicing. It's on my journal now, and I credited the fun-times to your journal. Thanks for the tip. It was indeed very time-consuming and entertaining.

From: (Anonymous)
... so I went to the site to check it out. Hey, I liked playing with dolls as a kid, how bad could it be?

That was 3 hours ago. I've made Persephone, myself, KimPossible who morphed into Lily Potter, and female!Lupin.

Curse you, Lady Evadne. I don't have a (an?) LJ account so I can't show you all the little people I've made (I only saved myself anyway) - cuuurrrsssse yooooouuuuuuu!

Oh, and check this out: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=cloudlessnights&keyword=Harry+Potter+starring+The+Sims+-+Book+1&filter=all

"Harry Potter & the Sorceror/Philosopher's Stone starring The Sims". Bonus features: outtakes from the book, and what SimActors do when no one's looking and all they have to read is ...HP fanfiction?!

That Sims thing is hilarious. That's quite amazing.

I've just made Death (Goth chick with tossled black hair - way too easy) and a rather amusingly pissed-off looking Draco-ette in a school uniform (with loafers!).

I should stop... but I'm not gonna.

The only thing more dangerous than fish-net stockings is leg warmers. Even I do not dare to contemplate what those are attempting to say.

There is a very thin line between pride and shame.
From: [identity profile] helena-dancer.livejournal.com
This is highly addictive. I ended up making two marysues and I would have made more if I'd found clothing that worked. I've half a mind to make some of my own on paint. Hm. Easier than sewing, but no one pays money for a computer doll.
From: [identity profile] evadne-noel.livejournal.com
True. Painted dolls (Mary-Sue or not) would be really cool.
From: [identity profile] yuurei-san.livejournal.com
Some of the clothing is really weird, isn't it? Some of the stuff that's in their I can't imagine even the least fashion conscious person wearing in real life. On the other hand, alot of it is really nice and stylish. When its good, its really good, and when its weird, its really, really weird.
From: [identity profile] evadne-noel.livejournal.com
Yeah, some of that clothing is not of this world. I tried my Sue in a few of those outfits, but it was a little too out there. Obviously there is someone out there much more fashionable than I designing their clothes.

How do you do that? I can't tell you how many of these little time wasting things of yours have...well...wasted my time. Like, for instance, I have been on this doll site for the past two and a half hours. I did your challenge (Ravyn Clyra Monyque Diawna Valyria says hello from her place at the common room fire where she is warming her cold, cold heart and waiting for Draco to come sweep her off her feet), along with three of my friends and my boyfriend, all of which are asking me to please stop. Then I did a Tonks, a Snape (in all black, of course)and was working on a Ginny when I realized how in danger I was of becoming irreversibly addicted to playing with dolls!
